Disneys success continued in adapting their hit animated film into a theatrical phenomenon. I finally got to go nab the musical version of The Lion King last week, and the first few words that come to my mind are amazing, stunning, and unbelievable My expectations were met, as my eyes grew wider with the bright, psychedelic lights, breath taking costumes, and the superb music of the first scene. I was a little unsure at first, wondering how in the world Disney was going to vie putting a film starring non-human characters, and animated ones at that, onto a three-dimensional stage. Disney never ceases to amaze me. The Lion King was one of the many proud displays of an elaborate musical production that I have ever had the pleasure of seeing.The Lion King is the tale of Simba, the son of the Lion King Mufasa (Rufus Bonds, Jr.). The birth of the unused heir displaces the kings brother Scar (John Vickery), leading the envious Scar to plot the death of Mufasa and Simba. When Mufasa is killed while trying to save Simba, Scar convinces Simba he must go into exile. There, Simba is befriended by a meerkat, Timon (Danny Rutigliano) and a warthog, Pumbaa (Bob Bouchard), and grows to adulthood (adult voice of Matthew Broderick) blissfully free of responsibilities. However, when childhood friend Nala (Moe Daniels) coincidently finds Simba and informs him that Scar is destroying the pride land, Simba must decide whether to march on his distance or to confront his demons...and Scar....

She is considered very experienced when it comes to love and loss since she has already been confronted with the death of a loved one when her fianc was killed earlier in the war. Their love affair must survive the obstacles of World War. The background of war-torn Italy adds to the tragedy of the love story. The war affects the emotions and value of each character. The love between Catherine and Frederick must outlast long separations, life-threatening wartime situations, and the uncertainty of each others whereabouts or condition. This novel is a beautiful love story of two people who need each other in a period of upheaval. At the start of the novel, Frederick is given a vacation to leave the war for a period of time in order to relax. He befriends a priest because he admires the fact that the priest lives his life by a represent of values that give him an orderly lifestyle. He is told by the priest to go to Abruzzi, there in the mountains he can relax and forget about the worries of war. just now Fredrick is hardheaded and listens to his friends and decides to go to Naples, there he drinks and travels from one house of prostitution to another and yet he is discontent because his life is very unsettled. This vacation was his fall by the wayside ticket out of the war but Fredrick does not realize nor understand how bad this war is. He decides to return due to his pride and patriotism. A wet friend of Fredrick, Rinaldi is also a Lt. In the army. Together they share stories and interests. Rinal di is a strong man, one who understands what war is about. Through numerous attempts of lessons given to Fredrick, he stock-still doesnt understand. Rinaldi constantly calls Fredrick baby which is an accurate description of him. He is still a child and is not aware of the true meaning of war, love and life.

Fences vs. Oedipus Essay

The Importance of Fatherhood Fatherhood is important and is often taken for granted and non treated with the respect it deserves. In the plays Fences and Oedipus the pouf, troy weight and Oedipus are affected by the lack of dumbfoundhood. In troy weights case, he fails to be a supportive generate to his male child, Cory, ultimately distancing himself from his family. As for Oedipus, he is oathd by the gods before his birth, due to his father, Laius, raping and kidnapping a young boy (Weineck). Although the situations of each play are different the need for fathers is very similar.This result may not seem of much importance but fatherhood can real affect a child or the actual father. two of these plays seem to be affected by the past which leads to the fathers putting their problems on the shoulders of their child. Fathers play an important role in a childs life. not only are they seen as their rock, but in any case as their protection. This is especially important in a bo ys childhood. This is shown by the relationship of Troy and Cory. Although, Troy is always around in Corys youth, he never gives any support for what Cory does.This is proved when Cory has a chance to talk to a college recruiter well-nigh football, but Troy claims he has no future in sports and just needs to give it up and go get a job and start up making money (Roberts 1046). This incident, along with other equivocal actions, lead to the resentment of Troy, not only by Cory, but by the entire family. The other questionable action by Troy was him cheating on his wife with another woman. This event is what totally crushed his relationship with his family, whom now refused to give him any respect.With no respect for Troy, Cory one day makes a comment towards his father, which does not sit well with Troy. This comment soon turns into an argument which, leads to Cory picking up a thresh and threatening Troy. Troy then takes the bat from Corys hands and knocks him down (Weales). At th is point Troy can show his dominance towards Cory but alternatively tells him to leave (Roberts 1071). This not only shatters the relationship between Troy and Cory but it shows the carelessness of Troy towards his son.Throughout the rest of the play, when Cory is present, the resentment of Troy is shown. Cory even contemplates not attending Troys funeral because he was tired of living in the shadow of his father (Roberts 1074). The relationship of a father to his son is essential to not only the sons maturation process, but also to the father and his livelihood. Troy and Cory make good examples for this, because after Cory left Troy was never the equal and in the same light it can be said the Cory learned from his father. He learned how to not be like his father.Before Oedipus the King, we know that King Laius of Thebes commits a crime in which he is punished for raping and kidnapping a child from a different kingdom. For this crime Laius is cursed by the god, Apollo. The curse g ive tongue to that Laiuss first born son would murder his father then marry his mother. Instead of Laius abstaining from marriage or sex to prevent this curse from occurring, he marries and has a son, Oedipus (Weineck). This stupidity of Laius begins the failure of his fatherhood. Laius has not only compromised his life but he has created a terrible situation for Oedipus when he is grown.This father and son relationship is not direct but the actions and carelessness of Laius ultimately affect Oedipus, which makes his life literally a living hell. Like in Fences Laius is careless slightly his son, like Troy. Although Oedipus is his fathers murderer, it is unknown if Oedipus intentionally killed Laius. It is actually said that he was defending himself, so it is hard to put any fault on the lack relationship with Laius (Roberts 786). This lack of relationship also can be said to have led to the downfall of Oedipus.This is because when Oedipus find that he has murdered his father and m arried his mother he exiles himself. It can be said that if Laius had not impregnated Jocasta, or had he killed Oedipus as an infant, this terrible circle would never had happened. Laius could have also raised Oedipus and created a positive relationship between the two which could have prevented this situation. This relationship between Laius and Oedipus was flawed from before the birth of Oedipus resulting in the horrific fate that Oedipus experienced.This flawed relationship can be argued to have had no chance but it can be seen that at the end of the play Oedipus is affected by the knowing of murdering his father. The difference in Oedipuss relationship with his father compared to normal father/son relationships was that he never really knew he had a relationship with his father, but all along it was his faulty relationship with Laius that cursed Oedipus in the first place. Although these two plays are very different in time periods, the grassroots buildup of each play is very similar. Fathers and sons is a way these two plays connected very well.Laius and Troy perform a very careless fatherhood whereas Oedipus and Cory are helpless and cannot defy what their fathers do or have done. Cory, out of respect for his father, cannot do the thing he wanted to do such as, football, and this resulted in the broken relationship between Cory and Troy. This is comparable to Oedipus, in a way, because he was unable to defy the curse of the gods on his father which also leads to a broken relationship with Laius. These plays at first glance have nothing in common but when broken down they truly have a similarity in the importance of a father.

The movie begins with Johns long time in college as a bright mathematical student focusing on creating a thesis. Upon this journey he is he develops schizophrenia and it begins to worsen. He is equal to acquire a job at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It is here where he meets his future wife Alicia. Alicia is not awargon of Johns peg down at the time solely soon learns. John is admitted into treatment for help and is eventually released. He then continues his life, partially recovering from the disease and is honored the Nobel repository Prize.John Nash is a young college student in his adult years. He is in his mid to late twenties he begins to develop schizophrenia. Information around immediate was not given, though he later marries his student, a MIT graduate student, Alicia Larde and has a son. As John ages his symptoms begin to worsen. He starts off by hear voices and the n eventually progresses to hallucinations and delusions. He often created friends and event scene by actions in his head that he believed was happening.According to the DSM, Schizophrenia is a mental affection of the mind. Its sub-types include paranoid, catatonic, hebephrenic and simple. Symptoms of schizophrenia include hallucinations, delusions, disorganized speech and bizarre behavior. Patients also commonly hear voices. Though the voices may vary there are many categories. They can comment on present actions and well as previous thoughts. Another feature is a command hallucination which can speciate the persevering what to do. In these scenarios the patient must obey the voice. bit in college John Nash began to hear voices. He then begins creates friends of them.Those included Charles, whom he believed was his roommate and William Parcher an doer for the United States Department of Defense. Charles would be an example of a voice (or person) that comments of present actions , and Parcher is a command voice because he displays authority and directs John on what to do. turn teaching at MIT, John believes he is on a mission to solve Soviet codes to assist the United States in stopping Soviet plots. While giving a lecture he believes Soviet spies captured him. He also endured in incident where he left this young son in the bathtub while running water. He claims he has a friend that was going to turn the water off. He almost drowns his son. These occurrences clearly identify John as a schizophrenic. He displays the symptoms needed to be considered a schizophrenic.There are no specific causes of schizophrenia. However schizophrenia can be affected by genetics and environmental causes. Medically a cause of schizophrenia is higher levels of dopamine receptors in the brain. There are also abnormal behaviors that occur in the frontal cortex, amygdala, and thalamus. Younger patients with this disease tend to lose me brain tissue compared to those that do not ha ve the disease. Another factor that could potentially lead to the development of schizophrenia is the contraction of any viral infection of the mother while the fetus is still inside of her.Improper nutrition and a lack of type O to the brain while in the fetus state can play a part in leading to this disease. Other factors may include the race month (winter v. summer), the birth place- rural areas compared to urban areas, maternal depression, as well as family history. Though the movie did not give information about Johns childhood nor family history, his schizophrenia could have possible developed from many of the factors previously mentioned.Schizophrenia is a disease that cannot be fully cured but can be treated. When a patient is treated for schizophrenia it is not removed from their brain but the symptoms associated with the disease are treated. For example a patient may still have schizophrenia but the common everyday signs such as hallucinations or delusions may be cured for an amount of time. In the film, John was admitted to a mental facility in which he was treated. He left on medication that treated his delusions. However once he discrete to discontinue his medications the symptoms reappeared. He was then treated with insulin shock therapy. During this therapy patients are treated with insulin for about eight days to two weeks. Observations have recorded that it speeds up the decrease of the intensity of the disease.Most patients have recorded no relapses after this treatment. Other treatments are psychotherapy and regular medicine are offered. Psychotherapy is a broad choice to get individuals assimilated back into normal society. However I would not recommend this for John because he did not isolate himself of loose friendly skills, he simply had to deal with the balancing of what was actually happening versus what was occurring in his mind. I also would not offer regular medicine because as seen in the movie, patients can simply stop takin g it for what ever person reason they have, which defeats the purpose. As done in the movie, I would prefer the insulin treatment for John. Because he is such an intelligent man I believe it would be possible for him to almost return to a normal lifestyle if this medicine is going to decrease his symptoms. Job-hunting pressure group Discussion The purpose of this study was to find how different levels of pressure college students bear and put forward constructive methods to deal with that.We predicted that a large number of college students are experiencing or have see different levels of depression caused by pressure. In this study,those students that we tested mostly showed h ealthy psychological condition and a good knowledge of ways to let out pressure. Thus,our hypothesis was not supported by this study. But,how and why? Is it true that college students are living happily and without pressure given by society. We postulate that this result can be explained by the following reasonsFirst of all,the concept of vanity may explain this unusual phenomenon.Fear of being other people see themselves vulnerable and the trend to pretend optimism as all people like optimistic make them choose some options which are not true. Byzantine, Persian, and Arab design and architecture are blended in it to create a magnificent whole. The blending of the three types of art is not surprising for all three people shared in the constrction. () With all these different influences present during construction, no wonder many attribute this piece of architecture with beauty and uniqueness. The mosque of the rock is extrodinary and beautiful. I have visited many places and beautiful buildings in India, Europe, and other parts of the world, and as far as I can remember. I have not seen as magnificent of a building as the Dome of the rock. The symmetry and the beautiful blending of colors I have not seen in any other building. (5) Many people around the world share this same opinion of the incredible building. Everyt hing that went into its construction, make it one of the most unique places to visit in the entire world. 11 The Dome of The Rock in Jerusalem was a building constructed by a group of people that were new to an area and wanted to make a point.These were people of the book, with lives that revolved around following the readings found in the Koran. These religious ideas are seen throughout the entire building. Everything from calligraphy, mosaics, and relics are all geared towards Islamic law and pleasing God or Alah in the Islamic faith. This religious influence was not meant to be just looked at and admired by the Muslim people who now had power of the region. The creators and patrons wanted to give the people a building that towered and naturally looked down upon the Christian architecture that was already there. This group even changed the name of a great Christian church of the region to show who now was in control.The Muslim people of this time and place used Islamic art and arc hitecture in the building of the Dome of the Rock to show there dominance over the group who tardily inhabited the region.
